Criminal Justice is one of the fastest growing interdisciplinary programs in higher education. The M.S. in Criminal Justice program from the King Graduate School is a 36 credit program. Students complete eight core courses which will be enriched by specializing in one of our concentrations in Human Services, Urban Crime Policy and Community Development. This 36 credit program can be completed in 4 semesters.

The Master’s Program in Criminal Justice seeks to enhance knowledge of the field, critical thinking skills and a mastery of oral and writing competencies. The program provides a broader global perspective that is indispensable to criminal justice professionals who aspire to leadership positions at federal, state and city agencies.

Our program not only speaks to the law enforcement perspective of criminal justice, but just as equally important is the ever growing field of human services and the criminal justice professional of today needs to have an understanding of the human services and the critical role of such a professional today.

Innovative Curriculum

The innovative curriculum in the Master of Science in Criminal Justice will deepen the student's understanding of the changing national and international environment. Graduates will develop competences in research methods, causes of crime, analyses of police, courts and the correctional system and crime reduction strategies.

Our offered concentration allows a student to learn a significant body of knowledge in Human Services, Urban Crime Policy or Community Development. The selected concentration requires a student who chooses and completes four electives within that concentration.

The landscape of the criminal justice system had been irrevocably transformed. The ever-present danger of terrorism and other forms of transnational crimes necessitates a closer collaboration among criminal justice agencies on all levels: federal, state, local, and even international levels. A graduate education has become indispensable to the criminal justice professional who aspires for leadership positions at these agencies. A graduate degree in Criminal Justice provides the opportunity for doors to open for advancement in a variety of career fields.
