The Monroe College Online Master of Science in Criminal Justice

 

Modern technology has truly made the world a smaller, global village. Yet, with all the promise and excitement, come daily new challenges in the area of criminal justice. Crimes can now be committed from thousands of miles away, over broadband connections. The ever-present danger of terrorism and other forms of transnational crimes necessitates a closer collaboration among criminal justice agencies of different countries. The Monroe Online MS in CJ provides a broader global perspective that is indispensible to criminal justice professionals who aspire to leadership positions at federal, state and city agencies.

 

Innovative Curriculum

 

The innovative curriculum in the Master of Science in Criminal Justice will deepen the student's understanding of the changing national and international environment.  Graduates will develop competencies in data analysis, research methods and crime reduction strategies.  Emphasis will be placed on the development of managerial writing skills, critical thinking and knowledge of the criminal justice literature. Graduates will emerge with a firm understanding of crime reduction strategies and dexterity in research and crime mapping skills and the ability to ascend to leadership roles in the industry.

 

Earn your M.S. degree in as little as 16 months

 

The M.S. in Criminal Justice program is a 36 credit program consisting of eight core courses and four electives. Students have an option for substituting a Master’s Thesis for two elective courses (6 credits). This 36 credit program can be completed in 4 semesters if a student attends full-time (3 courses each semester). Part time attendance is also an option. The online MS in CJ degree is designed so that you can earn it while continuing to work full-time. A concentration in Human Services is also available and requires students who choose this concentration to take four Human Services electives.
