Monroe Grants for Online Learning Students

Adult Learning Grant   (ADLG)

May be awarded to working, independent  students  (based on federal guidelines) who are at least 21 years of age and have a history of recent employment in 2011.  The award may range from $250 to $750 per semester limited by the remaining balance after all grants and subsidized loans have been subtracted from the cost of tuition and fees. The Grant will be re-calculated for each award year until the completion of the Associate Degree 60 credits if the student entered directly into the baccalaureate program.  Students must maintain good academic standing.

John Milavec Memorial Award (JMA)

This is a one-time one-semester award of up to $300 to offset the cost of books for students who have maximized their sources of tuition funding, but still do not have funds for their books.  Students must complete and submit an application by the 2nd week of the semester and must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 Applications may be obtained from the Student Financial Services Office.  Applications for students who have already received a Milavec Award in a previous semester will be considered if funds are available after qualifying first-time applicants have been awarded.

Legacy Grant (LEA)  

A grant of $500 (if student is full time) awarded to children of Monroe graduates. Students must maintain good academic standing. The grant may be pro-rated for part-time students and continues until the completion of undergraduate studies.

Monroe Partnership Grant (MPG) 

A grant of up to 20% of tuition or the or remaining need for tuition costs not to exceed 20%  for students who are employed by an organization that has a partnership agreement with Monroe College. Awards may be pro-rated for less than full-time study. Proof of employment is required.  The grant may be awarded to freshmen as well as continuing students.  Freshmen should contact the appropriate Admissions Office and continuing students, the appropriate Student Financial Services Office.

Campus Grant (CGR)

Specific CGR grants may be awarded to students by the appropriate college administrator based on unanticipated changes to the student’s financial aid package or other financial circumstances. These may be awarded to continuing and freshmen on a case by case basis.

Baccalaureate Scholarships (MSC)

Baccalaureate scholarships of $550 per semester are initially awarded to continuing Monroe students entering the Bachelor’s program who have earned a minimum of 60 credits with a cumulative GPA of 3.75 from their Associate Degree. Students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.75 based on baccalaureate grades only in order to continue receiving the scholarship.  No applications are required. 

Bacculaureate Transfer Scholarship

Scholarship is applicable to transfer students entering one of our Baccualuareate programs with cumulative GPA's of at least 3.0 and a minimum o 30 transferrable credits.These scholarships are competitive and may also be school based. An application and essay is required. Contact the appropriate admissions office for further information.

Silver (SLVR)

Up to $600 per semester based on a cumulative GPA of 3.0 - 3.49 from previous institutions. Actual amount of this grant is related to students financial aid grants. Students must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA.

Platinum (PLAT)

Up to $2000 per semester based on a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher from previous institutions. Actual amount of this grant is related to students financial aid grants. Students must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
