Monroe Online / Where do I start?

Navigating the world of online education may seem daunting at first, but you’ll be amazed how easy it is. This introduction will help. The questions below are laid out in a logical way to get you started and help you access more information as needed.

Like any college worth consideration, Monroe College Online is fully accredited. But beyond that, there is a substance and balance here that is rare. For 75 years, Monroe has been providing students with the degree programs and relevant job skills most in-demand by employers. Our unique balance is evident when you combine that tradition of educational excellence with a truly service-based student model. We care about our students and their success and our focus on real world education is matched only by our commitment to personalized attention and academic support. It is support that continues through one’s college years and beyond.

We Are:

Balanced. We’re interested in providing a quality real-world educational experience delivered in an online campus environment where faculty and staff work in the real world and are genuinely passionate about creating a great student experience.

We believe that there are 3 key ingredients that comprise a great online program:

1. Great academic content with a real world focus.

2. Passionate faculty and staff who invest themselves into the program.

3. Quality students who are motivated and dedicated to their program.

We are not:

A “big box” corporate education machine that treats students like statistics. Nor are we a traditional institution so focused on academic rigor that we forget that our students have a life outside of school.

It is tempting to assume that all online programs work the same way, but this isn’t the case. It’s important know the key benefits so you can determine the right course of action for you. Here are some of the key features and benefits of the Monroe Online program:

  • Monroe is 100% online. No residency.
  • Students never need to worry about physically coming to the campus.

  • Open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Students fit school around their schedule, not the other way around. A student taking a full academic curriculum should expect to dedicate 20hr/wk toward their degree, including work inside and out of the online classroom.

  • Traditional 15 week terms.
  • Students don’t have to feel like they’re cramming 15 weeks of content into a 6-week period. Students have time to digest the information.

  • Optional Acceleration.
  • Our unique three-semester academic calendar allows students to take classes year round, thereby allowing for accelerated completion of a degree without a tremendous overload of classes during any one semester.

  • ANGEL Class Software combined with e-lluminate video interface.
  • Students have access to a cutting edge online course interface that provides the freedom of online program and the feel of a traditional classroom.

Approximately 60% of applicants are accepted into Monroe online. Admitted applicants must demonstrate a solid academic background and a willingness to put in the time, effort and financial resources to complete a college degree.

We are truly committed to our students and make sure our online programs are as academically rigorous as those given on campus. Online students will be evaluated on the same stringent academic requirements in order to maintain the program’s level of academic excellence for all. Students who do not meet these requirements will not be accepted.
