Overview

There’s something about New York that inspires. The pulse of its creativity and the energy emanating from its skyline seem to radiate outward to every corner of the world. It’s not easy to make it here, but those who try are possessed of ample determination and even bigger dreams. At Monroe, those people are the 170 international students who arrive each year with one common goal – success. And succeed they do. Not simply in the disciplines they study, but also on the athletic fields and the friendships they form.

Since 1933, Monroe has been more than just a home away from home for students from nearly every continent in the world; it has been an extended family. Today, that family includes scholar –athletes from Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean and Asia. Add to this impressive mix a varied student body from the United States and you have a college as rich and textured in its diversity as it is in its educational curricula.

More than a College, a Family

College can be difficult, particularly when you’re trying to learn the customs of a new country. But at Monroe, you’ll find a very unique culture of caring. This is not a place of huge, impersonal lecture halls. Monroe is an environment of small classrooms, most with less than 25 students, and professors who know you by name. A place where the college president might sit down next to you in the cafeteria. A place where every student is assigned an Academic Advisor to monitor their progress. Here, we know you and care about your progress. Monroe is an entire family of support. One you’ll have for a lifetime.

Academic Options

Monroe offers a number of Academic options to international students entering the soccer academy. For those students with the right academic credentials, they may matriculate into one of Monroe College’s undergraduate or graduate academic programs. International students also have the option of entering into a one-year Business Certificate program.

For students looking to strengthen their English skills before enrolling into a United States College or University, they might consider enrolling in Monroe’s English Language Learning Institute (ELLI). This innovative program provides language assistance right on campus, allowing you to learn English.

Minutes from New York City

Monroe’s New Rochelle campus has it all – a small town setting less than a 30 minute train ride from New York City. On campus you will find hundreds of college activities to enjoy, including nationally ranked athletics, clubs for every interest, professional organizations such as our award winning SIFE (Students in Free Enterprise) Team, international organizations and more. After class and activities, you’ll go home to study and relax in fully furnished residential facilities. Our new Allison Hall features spacious two-room suites, WiFi, high-speed Internet, a computer room and exercise center. At Monroe, you’ll work and play on a quiet, relaxed campus–minutes from the most exciting city in the world.
