Monroe College residence halls are located in the heart of New Rochelle, a thriving suburban community in Westchester County. The campus is in close proximity to shops, neighborhood restaurants and the New Roc City entertainment and shopping complex that contain movie theatres, restaurants and an arcade. Nearby are parks and beaches along the scenic Long Island Sound. New York City is accessible by public transportation and is less than thirty minutes by train.
Monroe College offers 4 types of housing options each with their own unique set of amenities. Students also generally have a choice of living in quads, triples, doubles or singles. Dormitory charges vary based on building and number of roommates. Below is a description of our different residential options.
1. Traditional Residence hall Suites
Allison Hall is a six-story residence hall on Main Street, just a few steps from classes. Each fully furnished, two bedroom suite has a bathroom, refrigerator and central air conditioning. Every floor has a common room with cable television, open and lit 24 hours a day for students to socialize and study. Additionally, the building has a fitness center, computer lounge, and laundry facility. Security is provided around the clock.
2. Standard Apartments
Monroe College offers apartment living in downtown New Rochelle, one of the oldest and most historic communities on the Eastern Seaboard. Students enjoy independent living in the hub of a growing community while attending classes. Apartment rooms can be singles, doubles, triples, or quads. Each building or house is within walking distance to classes. All apartments come complete with contemporary living room furniture, bedroom sets, television with cable access and a kitchen.
3. Single Modular Units
The singular modular units are located on Main Street in Downtown New Rochelle. High ceilings in a loft-like space, the modular “pods” feature a bright, clean, modern look. Each floor features 6 single private modules with a bed, desk, dresser and wardrobe. Hardwood floors throughout, the apartments include a shared bathroom, furnished lounge area, free laundry area and a large closet. The large, gourmet kitchens feature granite countertops and eating area, with a full size refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave. Lofts also include central air, cable TV and wifi internet service.
4. Deluxe high-rise apartments
Deluxe high-rise living provides the amenities and lifestyle beyond a typical dorm room. Apartments feature a fully equipped gourmet kitchen with dishwasher, washer and dryer, central air, cable TV and internet, and 24 hour security. All apartments are fully furnished and offer bright airy floor plans with ample closet space. Bus and train transportation, shopping and more are within walking distance. |
