  • Master’s in Hospitality Residency – August 2017

As part of the Master’s in Hospitality program, students participate in two two-week residencies on our New Rochelle campus. These intensive residencies, which take place at the beginning and end of the program, provide students the opportunity to gain hands-on knowledge and develop personal relationships with their cohort and their professors, which adds a deeper level of personal interaction to the program’s online classrooms.

Below, you can find some details regarding the upcoming residency for the incoming 2017 cohort:

    Wi-Fi and Computer Access

Cohort teams will have out-of-class assignments, which will require them to work together in the evenings. We recommend you bring a laptop.  If you do not have one, however, computers are will be available on campus in the academic center, which will be open evenings from 5:00 - 9:00 PM. Your hotel rooms will have Wi-Fi internet access.

    Meals

Breakfast will be provided daily, beginning at 7:30 AM, at the Dining Lab at the Culinary Arts Center.Break refreshments, including snacks, coffee and other beverages, will be provided in the Dining Lab for morning and afternoon class sessions. Unless otherwise noted, students will be on their own for lunch and dinner.  A list of area restaurants will be provided, and the Gaddy Café will be available for meals. Students should budget $30-$40 daily for food and food-related expenses.

    Dress Code and Weather

The dress code for classes is business casual. Please bring comfortable walking shoes for planned city tours and outdoor events. The August weather in New York is hot and humid, with temperatures typically ranging from the 70s to the 90s. Please remember to bring items such as medication, medical devices, visual and/or hearing aids. There is an area laundromat, and your hotel can also provide laundry service.  Cohort members may wish to dress up for the matriculation ceremony.

    Accommodations

Once you have been accepted to the program, we will reserve a room for you at the Radisson Hotel New Rochelle. The cost of this residency is built into the total cost of the program. Because the residency is vital to the cohort experience, all students, including local students, must stay at the hotel during the residency.
