    Academy Philosophy

The Monroe College Soccer Academy provides a high level training atmosphere in which players can thrive, improve and embrace the beautiful game while attending Monroe College. The experience is designed to be both challenging and enjoyable, working to push players to a higher level and allowing every player who comes to the academy to leave as a better athlete.

The Monroe College Soccer Academy is designed to challenge players both mentally and physically to improve their level of play, and become a better athlete during their time within the program.

Whatever your aspirations may be, the Monroe College Soccer Academy will provide you with every opportunity on the soccer field and in the classroom, to leave Monroe College and reach your goals in the United States.

    Why the Academy?

The Monroe College Soccer Academy provides players of all nationalities with the opportunity to experience the life of a college student-athlete in the United States. For non-english speaking students, the jump from their home country directly into a high level education program in the United States can be a difficult transition. The Monroe College Soccer Academy provides student athletes with the opportunity to improve their English language to a level by where they can obtain acceptance into a higher education institute here in the United States of America.

While learning the English language, students will also be on the practice field following a rigorous training schedule designed to mirror that of the top NCAA programs. The high level and frequency of soccer training will ensure that student-athletes are able to improve upon their current skills and place themselves in a position to play collegiate soccer in the United States.

The benefit of The Monroe College Soccer Academy above other programs here in the United States is that we are not a team program. The program is based on individual players being trained within a group environment. As the program does not play any organized scrimmages or games against other educational institutes, the student-athletes do not use up one of their four years of college soccer eligibility.

Student athletes can utilize The Monroe College Soccer Academy to improve their understanding of the English language and their soccer skill set while enjoying the lifestyle within reach of New York City, one of the greatest cities in the world.

    Our Players

The Academy is an ideal program for several types of players, including players who wish to be seen by college coaches in America and potentially offered a scholarship, players who need to obtain college credits to become NCAA eligible without losing playing eligibility, any player who wishes to become a coach and study, international students who want to learn English while being part of a serious academy or international students who want to study in America and play soccer. Whatever your reason for wanting to come, we will make sure it is a first-class experience.

    Soccer Curriculum

The Academy’s soccer curriculum is a progressive year-long program that develops a player’s cognitive, technical and physical abilities. The training methods are modeled after some of the best soccer academies in the world and the progressive curriculum helps foreign players to learn and navigate the American collegiate soccer system. Players will undergo a massive conditioning program to improve their speed, endurance, strength and power while at the same time developing a respect and discipline about the game. The academy implements a large variety of “Rondo” training techniques, which increase a player’s ability to think quickly while maintaining possession of the ball.  Players will become better problem solvers and thinkers on the field as they play, and will be challenged as they develop their soccer mind through our unique curriculum.

    New York Experience

Monroe College's New Rochelle campus offers the best of both worlds: a suburban campus that provides a traditional college experience and a close proximity to New York City, the largest city in the United States. Just a 30-minute train ride away, New York City is home to some of the world's best cultural offerings and will provide you with countless adventures. Plus, Monroe College’s Soccer Academy will have you visiting a wide array of neighborhood soccer fields where you’ll experience the city from a local’s perspective.

Monroe College and the Soccer Academy strongly believe in the importance of experiential learning. Each semester, events and field trips are scheduled in New York City through classroom curriculums and the Student Activities department in order to provide students with the unique cultural experience that comes along with visiting a city so rich in diversity. Some recent events include a Moonlight boat cruise around NYC, a Broadway show, a trip to New York’s Botanical Gardens and Aquarium and a trip to the Intrepid Sea and Space Museum. Monroe students continually take advantage of all the city has to offer.
