Located in the downtown area, the Monroe College New Rochelle campus offers a traditional college experience with the convenience of small city living. With several student clubs, a robust student activities department and a thriving athletic program, Monroe’s Mustang Pride resonates throughout the New Rochelle campus. Commuting and housing students alike enjoy attending games at the Monroe Athletic Complex (“the MAC”) and City Field, the home turf for many of Monroe’s athletic teams.
Many members of the Monroe community (and local foodies) enjoy a night out at Monroe’s student-run restaurant, The Dining Lab, which offers delicious gourmet meals three nights a week. New Rochelle’s close proximity to New York City allows the Student Activities Office to plan regular student trips to plays, museums and events in the Big Apple.
Monroe College residence halls are located in the heart of New Rochelle, a thriving suburban community in Westchester County that is also one of the oldest and most historic communities on the Eastern Seaboard. The campus is in close proximity to shops, neighborhood restaurants and the New Roc City entertainment and shopping complex where there are movie theatres, restaurants and an arcade. Nearby are parks and beaches lining the scenic Long Island Sound.
Monroe College offers four housing options, each with a unique set of amenities. Students also have a choice of living in quads, triples, doubles or singles. Dormitory charges vary based on building and number of roommates.
Monroe College is committed to culinary excellence in all of the college's dining halls. With assistance from culinary students, Monroe chefs have made on-campus dining a go-to, healthy option for the Monroe community.
Monroe’s Student Activities Office is one of the busiest offices at the College. With over 700 student members in over 50 clubs, there is always something to do on campus. In fact, there are over 130 activities planned per semester. No matter what your interests are, you’re likely to find others who share them.
Each Monroe College student is assigned a counselor based on his/her schedule and major. Because the purpose of the Student Services staff is to ensure that every student has an ideal college experience, counselors and support staff members are available to help students with any issues, whether academic or personal.
The Health Services staff, located on the New Rochelle campus, is committed to providing caring, competent, compassionate and confidential treatment to our students. A nurse practitioner, registered nurse, counselor and medical assistant are available weekdays and the doctor is on campus weekly. When necessary, students are referred to other professionals for specific screening (including STD), consultation or treatment. Immunizations are available for a small fee and flu vaccines are offered at no charge. Physical examinations are offered as needed, but annual sports physicals are mandatory prior to practice or competition. Residential students have ongoing access to first-aid and emergency care.
With over 500 athletes at Monroe College competing at the NJCAA Division I and Division II levels, there is always an opportunity to cheer on the Mustangs -- and the cheering never gets old. Our teams have won four national titles, several gold medals, and countless championships. Monroe's teams include baseball, basketball, cross country, football, soccer, softball, track and field, and volleyball.
