St. Lucia

  • Partial Tuition Scholarship for an Associate in Culinary Arts or Baking and Pastry and a Bachelor’s in Hospitality Management

    ProStart students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher may apply for a partial academic scholarship to earn an Associate in Culinary Arts or Baking & Pastry from CINY and Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management from Monroe College’s School of Hospitality Management. This scholarship is renewable each semester, until the completion of the Bachelor’s program, as long as the recipient meets the requirements stated below. The scholarship will be awarded based on the recipient’s application to Monroe College and 500-word essay about their passion for culinary arts or baking & pastry and the career path they intend to take. 

    This partial academic scholarship will apply towards the recipient’s academic tuition. If Financial Aid is also applied to the recipient’s tuition, any remaining balance of this scholarship will be applied to other school-related expenses, such as room, board, and schoolbooks.

    In order to qualify, applicants must: 

    • Have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.0 or higher.
    • Meet the admissions criteria for Monroe College, including an interview with the dean or his designee.
    • Submit official high school transcripts, school attendance records, two letters of recommendation (one from a Hospitality instructor and one from a guidance counselor or school administrator), and a 500-word essay to Enmely Soriano at
    • Apply and be accepted into the Associate in Culinary Arts or Baking & Pastry degree program AND the Bachelor’s in Business Administration in Hospitality Management degree program.
    • Have their ProStart applications approved by Monroe College.
    • Begin studying full-time (12 credits or more) at Monroe College in the Fall 2018 semester. Recipients must enroll by June 1, 2018.
    • Fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). 

    In order to retain their scholarship, recipients must:

    • Volunteer 5 hours per week per semester for events and operations within and outside of the Culinary Institute of New York at Monroe College.
    • Maintain full-time status (a minimum of 12 credits) in all consecutive semesters (including Fall, Winter, and Spring semester) for the duration of the scholarship.
    • Maintain cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher. If a student’s final grades for a given semester result in a cumulative GPA below 2.75, the student will lose their scholarship for their next semester.
    • Be working towards their AAS in Culinary Arts or Baking & Pastry and their BBA in Hospitality Management. Students who change their major from these programs will forfeit their scholarship award.
