    Albert Gonzalez joined Monroe College in 2017 to launch its Division III Monroe Express Baseball program on the Bronx Campus. 

    Coach Gonzalez came to the College from Yeshiva University, where he was the Assistant Baseball Coach and served as the program’s catching coach. Earlier in his career, he held key positions at premier private training facilities in the metro NY area, including Frozen Ropes Training Center, The Baseball Center NYC, and King’s Baseball Academy. He also served the minor league programs for the Houston Astros, Washington Nationals, New York Mets, Long Island Ducks, and the Rockland Boulders by helping to train their pitchers as an off-season bullpen catcher. Most recently, he worked with current New York Yankee pitcher Dellin Betances.

    Coach Gonzalez is a former professional baseball player and college baseball recruiter. In addition to his work with Puerto Rico’s Double AA League in 2013, he played during the 2014 season with El Llano BC, a program within Spain's top professional league. Following his professional career as a player, he served as a college baseball scout, assisting top baseball programs across the country to recruit talent from within the Southwest Region.

    He has a proven track record in player development, both on the field and in the classroom. Indeed, he has assisted countless athletes earn scholarships to play college baseball and, ultimately, sign professional contracts. 

    A native of Rockland County, NY, Coach Gonzalez earned his Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from High Point University.

    Women’s Basketball

    Carl Isidore joined the Monroe Express after a successful season as the assistant coach of the College’s Division I program, the Monroe Mustangs. The Mustangs were named the NJCAA Region 15 Champions that season.

    He joined the College in 2016 after three seasons on the basketball coaching staff at Globe Institute of Technology. He spent one season as an assistant coach with the men’s program and two seasons in the same role with the women’s team. During his tenure, his teams made it to the conference finals twice and a Globe player was named Academic All-American & NJCAA Nation Leading Scorer. Ironically, it was also during his first season there that Globe fell to Monroe College in the first round of the Region 15 NJCAA playoffs.

    Earlier in his career, Coach Isidore was an assistant coach for both the men’s and women’s basketball programs at TCI College of Technology, his alma mater. During his one season there, the team earned the NJCAA Region 15 Championship title.  As a player at TCI, where he earned his degree in Office Technology, he was named co-captain and led the nation in 3-point percentage (55%); he also played in the conference finals.  He later attended Concordia College where his team made their first final four conference appearance.  

    After his college career, Isidore went on to play for the ABA Halifax Rainmen Preseason Tour Team.

    Giorgi Manzula joined the College’s coaching staff in 2017 to launch Men’s and Women’s Soccer programs for its NJCAA Division III team, the Monroe Express.

    A native of the Republic of Georgia in Eastern Europe, he was recruited to play soccer for Monroe College’s NJCAA Division I program in 2012. The team went on that year to win the regional championship title. He was named team captain in his second season.  

    After graduating with an Associate degree in Business Administration, Coach Manzula attended Central Connecticut State University, where he played in its NCAA Division I program and studied Business Management. 

    He began his coaching career while still in college, working with local club-level youths in the community. He has extensive coaching experience, including at the U13-U18 level.

    Lisa Jagdeo joined the Division III Monroe Express program in 2017 as Head Coach of the Women’s Volleyball team after serving as the Assistant Coach of the Division I Mustangs program on the College’s New Rochelle campus. 

    During her three-year tenure with the Mustangs, she worked closely with Head Coach Nephtali Delgado to help the Women’s Volleyball team capture the regional championship title each year. In 2017, the team also won the district championship and participated in the national championship in Nebraska. 

    Prior to joining Monroe College, she was an assistant coach for the volleyball program at the College of New Rochelle.

    She is a graduate of Lehman College, where she ranked among the top-10 setters for CUNY.  She had been named the volleyball team’s MVP and rookie of the year during her freshman

    Rick Swillinger

    Rick Swillinger joined Monroe College in 2017 to head the Division III Monroe Express Men’s Basketball program on the Bronx Campus. 

    Coach Swillinger has extensive coaching experience in the sport at the high school and college levels. He has served as Head Coach of the Boys Basketball program at Walton High School since 1999, leading his team to the PSAL Bronx Championship title three times. After winning that title for the 2016-2017 academic year, the Walton team went on to win the PSAL City Championship title as well. 

    In addition to his coaching work, Coach Swillinger has worked for the New York City Board of Education for the last 36 years as a physical education teacher.

    He earned his undergraduate degree in Sports Management at St. John’s University and his Masters of Science in Physical Education at Brooklyn College.
