  • The ESL Intensive Program

The English Language Learning Institute (ELLI) offers two levels of instruction. Each student’s level of English proficiency will determine the required level of instruction. Level I requires enrollment in two sessions and Level II requires enrollment in one session. ELLI combines the core elements of language acquisition with an engaging, creative social and extracurricular experience.

This program fulfills the United States Immigration Services visa requirement for full-time study of English. The ELLI Intensive Program is authorized to issue I-20s to full-time students who meet all the requirements.

Intensive English courses at varying levels include English Grammar, Conversation, Reading, Writing, Research, ESL American Culture, and TOEFL Preparation.  Most classes meet between 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. The full-time Intensive program students receive a total of 24 hours of classroom instruction each week. The full-time Intensive program includes cultural activities.

This will be accomplished not only through a rigorous ESL curriculum but also through specifically tailored project-based assignments in which students are able to experience a collective and more ―hands on‖ style of learning.   Instruction and exploration through dramatic plays, song writing, poetry, film directing, acting, comic and graphic design, musicals, etc. will not simply be central to a student’s course for a session, rather they will be the inspiration and motivation behind ELLI’s intensive core curriculum.
