The Practical Nurse Certificate Program is offered in eleven months and requires a complete time commitment by the student to successfully meet all requirements. The nursing courses progress from simple to complex within a supportive liberal arts/sciences. Students gain specialized knowledge and skills which meet the health needs of people in a variety of settings. Clinical experiences allow the student to use a clinical problem-solving process (the nursing process) to collect and organize health care data, assist in the identification of health needs/problems throughout the client's lifespan, and contribute to the interdisciplinary team. Adherence to standards of care, accountability, and use of legal/ethical principles in nursing practice is emphasized.
Students will graduate with a PN certificate and graduates are provided the opportunity to participate in a post-graduation mentorship to assist with preparation to take the NCLEX-PN licensure exam.
