We are so proud of you. Despite the pandemic and all its challenges, you stayed focused on earning your degree. That is an impressive achievement.
We look forward to celebrating your accomplishment at our Virtual Commencement on Wednesday, June 9th, at 5:00 pm.
The link will be shared closer to the big day.
Your diploma will be ready approximately two or three months after the completion of your last semester.
It takes us a little time to confirm your credentials and have the beautiful documents printed.
Those who finished their programs at the end of the Winter semester will be contacted by the Registrar’s Office in mid-summer with information on how to have your diploma sent to you.
Diplomas are ready for our Fall 2020 graduates. If you did not receive a communication from the Registrar's Office with important information about having it shipped to you, please contact them for assistance.
On the Bronx campus, that would be Ms. Abigail Thorpe at firstname.lastname@example.org.
On the New Rochelle campus, that would be Ms. Georgia Williams at email@example.com.
Cap and Gown Purchases
Grads had been directed to order their regalia by May 13th to have it in time for Commencement. The vendor cannot guarantee delivery in time for purchases placed after that date.
Now that that date has passed, the vendor's online shop for purchasing your graduation regalia will be closed until Monday, May 17th.
Very important: You do not have to purchase a cap and gown to participate in our Virtual Commencement.
Most graduates, however, are opting to purchase them as a souvenir and to take photos with their family. You will have a chance later this spring to send in a photo for a photo montage to appear before the virtual Commencement begins.
Students planning to make a purchase and ship it outside the U.S. are strongly encouraged to consider buying their cap and gown from a local provider. The vendor cannot guarantee international shipments will arrive in time, regardless of purchase date.
We have partnered with a company called Oak Hall for the caps and gowns. Click the box below to access our graduation shop on their website.
Please note: This year, you are welcome to purchase your regalia from other sources if you are concerned about receiving it from our vendor on time.
We will hold our Commencement Awards ceremonies during the month of August for our Fall 2020, Winter 2021, and Spring 2021 graduates. A formal invitation will be sent with further details.
The event will recognize students graduating with a perfect 4.0 GPA, Latin Honors, Deans' Awards, and the Thesis of the Year Awards.
The School of Nursing will also conduct its Pinning Ceremony, and the School of Business and Accounting will induct members into the Delta Mu Delta Honor Society during their respective awards ceremonies.
The schedule will be posted here once finalized.
Photos & Portraits
Although formal portraits will not be offered on campus, our graduates will have an opportunity to submit a photo to us for inclusion in a fun photo montage that will run before the Virtual Commencement. Submitted images will also be used to celebrate our graduates on social media.
We will begin accepting photos in mid-May. An email will be sent out once we're ready for them.
Share Your Monroe Story
As we get closer to Commencement Day, our Marketing team will be sharing our graduates' success stories on our website and social media pages.
If you would like to be considered, please send an email with your "Monroe story" to firstname.lastname@example.org.
We would love to hear why you came to Monroe, your favorite things about the College, and perhaps the names of the professors and staff who truly had your back and helped you succeed.
Tell us a little about yourself, too.
Are you the first person in your family to go to college? Is someone else in your family a Monroe graduate? Did you transfer to Monroe and find what you were looking for? Did you come back to complete your education after stepping away for a while (life happens!)? Share as much as you'd like!
Family Graduating Together
If you and a family member are graduating together this year, please let us know.
President Jerome looks forward each June to recognizing family members who earned their degrees together. It's just one of our wonderful Commencement traditions!
Simply email your names, majors, and relationship to each other (spouses, son/mother, brother/sister, aunt/nephew, etc.) to the President's Office via email@example.com.
