School of Criminal Justice Hosts Talk on Police and Community Relations

November 04, 2017

The College’s School of Criminal Justice proudly partnered today with Senator Jamaal Bailey and the NYPD’s 47th Precinct for an afternoon of frank conversation about ways the local community and police can work together to make the Bronx an even better place to live, work, visit, and study. As part of the program, attendees had the opportunity to experience our state-of-the-art Law Enforcement Training Simulator. Attendees left the town hall meeting with a better understanding of what it takes to successfully de-escalate a dangerous situation, as officers often must do when responding to a call. Remarks made during the panel discussion that followed made it clear that the workshop had helped to strengthen understanding, trust, and respect among all those present. There will be three more of these by-invitation-only sessions in the weeks ahead.
