CASAC - Substance Abuse Counseling
Given the current societal trends which focus on the increasing demand for substance abuse counselors, you will gain the skills needed to help people with addictions to alcohol and other drugs. The Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) 30-credit program provides you with a solid foundation that can lead to career advancement in the human services and health care fields. Learn to assess level and type of addiction, identify associated life issues, and set up treatment plans. You’ll be equipped with strategies for early intervention, prevention, and treatment. Certain courses may satisfy requirements in some other undergraduate programming. Satisfactory completion of the program will provide you with the opportunity to receive your CASAC-T certificate from the NYS Office of Alcoholism & Substance Abuse Services (OASAS).
Mastering QuickBooks can take you a long way into the accounting world, as well as open up positions in branding, organization, and business. This course offers a hands-on approach to integrated accounting using computerized accounting software. It consists of several major accounting systems: general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory, payroll, and end-of-period procedures. Upon completion of this course, you'll qualify to sit for the QuickBooks certification exam.

The certificate in Food Media Studies from Monroe College provides students with a professional edge in the world of digital food media to cultivate entrepreneurial aspirations in developing a food business, product, or service. Students will develop the skills to promote food product or service through a focus on the entrepreneurial use of personalized branding and marketing and share their expertise and knowledge of food with the world.
Grant Writing Workshop
This course is designed to provide participants with a hands-on experience in the grant research, writing, and application process. It will cover both the seeker and funder perspectives, and will teach participants how to identify grant sources using online portals, develop a strategy for building relationships with funding agencies, and draft and refine a proposal. The proposal will include important sections such as the project description, problem/needs statement, case statement, goal/objectives/outcome, methodology, logic model, budget, dissemination plan, and evaluation plan. Participants will also practice writing various sections of the proposal and gain a deeper understanding of what funders are looking for, including funding award criteria and scoring.
Medical Coding & Billing
Healthcare organizations are demanding trained coders and billers, and jobs are growing at a record pace. After completing your coursework, you’ll be prepared to sit for the national certification exam and earn a Certified Coding Associate (CCA) certificate. Certified Coding Associate (CCA) certification is a nationally recognized credential that can better position you for opportunities in the health field. Passing the CCA exam helps candidates separate themselves from non-credentialed health coders.

TEAS Preparatory class
Monroe’s TEAS Preparatory class is to assist individuals studying to pass the TEAS exam so that they can pursue admission to the School of Nursing at Monroe College. TEAS prep courses are a great way for students to re-learn important concepts while also learning new material that will be tested on the TEAS. TEAS prep courses will help students become more comfortable taking the TEAS by offering strategies and test taking tips. Like any test you take, studying beforehand will boost your chances for success. But, approximately 40% of students have to take the TEAS more than once, so prepping for the TEAS isn’t just helpful – it’s crucial.

The Industry Trade Academy at Monroe College (ITAM) provides foundation courses for students to begin a successful career in the Trades.
