Monroe College’s 18-credit Advanced Certificate program in Data Science is designed for students who have completed their graduate degree in Computer Science or a related field and seek to enhance their theoretical, analytical, and practical skills through
Statistical and object-oriented programming
Big data management and analysis
Scientific methods, processes, and analytics
Students will gain a solid background in management, team building, communications, and critical thinking. The curriculum emphasizes practical proficiency in applying relevant skills through courses in statistical modeling, data management, machine learning, and big data analytics.
Provides a broad introduction to machine learning and statistical pattern recognition based on a fundamental knowledge of computer science principles and skills, probability, and statistics theory. You will learn about recent applications such as supervised and unsupervised learning, robotic control, data mining, autonomous navigation, bioinformatics, speech recognition, and text and web data processing.
Students completing the Advanced Certificate program in Data Science will be qualified for employment as an Associate Data Scientist, Data Scientist, Data Analyst, Machine Learning Engineer, Applied Data Scientist, Predictive Analyst, Senior Data Scientist, Data Statistician, Technical Analyst, Instructor, or Data Engineer in private, government, and non-profit sectors.
