10 Students Inducted Into the National Society of Leadership and Success

Congratulations to our 10 students who were recently inducted into the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS)!

They are:  Angelene Sukhan, Ashley Medina, Daniola Veseli, Gabrielle Buckley, Kenyetta Hall-Camera, Khyrone Knight, Nanette Vargas, Odette Gethers, Shneequa Greene, and Sukiyanna Snape. 

A lovely reception was held in King Hall on the Bronx campus to celebrate their induction. Samantha Figueroa, advisor of the NSLS chapter at Monroe, hosted the event, offering welcoming remarks and presenting students with their induction certificates. 

The National Society of Leadership and Success NSLS is hailed as the country’s largest leadership honor society. The organization boasts more than 800 chapters across the country, which serve nearly 2 million students. Monroe has proudly sponsored a NSLS student chapter since 2015. 

Membership in NSLS is highly selective; it is reserved for students who have demonstrated strong academic performance and a desire to reach their leadership potential. They are nominated for membership, typically by a staff member or faculty.

NSLS focuses on helping members build their leadership traits. Students have access to a variety of benefits, including scholarships to help with tuition funding, virtual and on-campus events, as well as ”employer recruitment through an online job bank, and discounts on computers, textbooks, grad school prep courses, insurance, and much more.”

There are three guiding values that connect NSLS students to each other and serve as beacons of inspiration as they prepare for personal and professional success. They are:

   Learning is a life-long journey.
   Gaining new skills is imperative for personal and professional growth.

   Everyone has leadership potential.
   We provide the tools and resources students need to identify and achieve their goals.

   We achieve more together than we do alone.
   With proper support and dedicated action, we can do extraordinary things.
