Class of 2020 and Class of 2021 Graduates Invited Back for a Commencement “Do-Over”

When Monroe’s faculty, staff, and Board of Trustees members applaud the graduates at Commencement this June, it won’t just be the Class of 2022 in the audience. Graduates from the Class of 2020 and Class of 2021 will also be there for a “Commencement Do-Over.”

When the pandemic hit in early 2020, the College did the right thing by moving Commencement to the virtual environment for everyone’s safety. The same thing happened in 2021 as local infection rates continued to be problematic.

This year, however, marks a return to Radio City Music Hall in midtown Manhattan for an in-person celebration.

While the earlier virtual events were very fun, warm, and celebratory, we appreciate that they didn’t quite hold up to the thrill of walking across Radio City’s grand stage and hearing your name called out as family and friends proudly cheer you on. Every one of our graduates worked hard to earn their degree and certainly deserved that special moment that COVID made impossible.

This year, however, it IS possible. We are delighted to invite our 2020 and 2021 graduates to take their well-earned walk across the stage when Commencement is held on June 15th.

There will be at least two separate ceremonies to accommodate the number of graduates and guests that are expected. More information will be shared as we get closer to June.

Interested graduates from the Class of 2020 or Class of 2021 MUST complete a registration form to participate and receive tickets for guests. Contact Jackie Ruegger at jruegger@monroecollege.edu for more information.

Completing the form ensures that the graduates receive important Commencement information and updates by email and/or text. It also gives us a sense of how many graduates will be participating so we can properly plan for everyone’s big day.

Graduates should monitor our website for important Commencement news and updates.
