Hipolito “Hip” Torres was born and raised in a Dominican household in Queens, N.Y. After receiving a scholarship through C-CAP and graduating from The Culinary Institute of New York at Monroe College in 2017— he gravitated toward media and the artful side of food rather than working the hotline. Torres has photographed food and portraits for StarChefs, Savannah Magazine, Plate Mag, private clients, and lifestyle brands. He also works as an assistant food stylist, testing recipes, and works behind the scenes on cooking shows for Buzzfeed’s Tasty and Netflix, as well as Food Network’s Chopped.
