Kelly Agama

“It’s one thing to read from a book, but putting what you learn in school into a job is a different story.”

Kelly Agama studied culinary arts and hospitality management at Monroe, earning her bachelor's degree in 2011. A recommendation from her professor to work as an intern at the Residence Inn Marriott opened the door for Kelly’s career. As a front desk clerk, Kelly gained hands-on experience in every aspect of the hotel. That experience, combined with what she learned in school, helped Kelly excel, and she quickly got noticed by the hotel’s manager. She was offered a full-time position before she graduated, and has gone on to earn two promotions since.

Kelly is now the director of sales at the Residence Inn in New Rochelle

“Everything I learned in school, I was able to put into practice.” Kelly said. “It’s one thing to read from a book, but putting what you learn in school into a job is a different story.”

Kelly thanks her professors for pushing her to continue with her education and helping her land her dream job. “They gave me everything I needed to succeed.”
