Monroe College Gets Ready to Welcome Voters as an Early Voting Site

Early voting in New York State begins on Saturday, October 23rd, and we are so proud to share that we will once again serve as an early voting site, as well as an Election Day site on November 2nd.

Our Mintz Auditorium – home to our amazing Division III Monroe Express athletic programs – will welcome registered voters from across the local community as they cast their votes for the upcoming general election.

E
arly voting will take place through Sunday, October 31st.

Monroe has a long and proud tradition of civics education and welcomes this opportunity to share its facilities with the Bronx Board of Elections and local voters.

In addition to holding voter registration drives and “Meet the Candidates” forums, the College offers a successful social justice dual enrollment class to help juniors and seniors in local high schools understand their civic responsibilities and the importance of voting.

More than 140 students from 32 area schools successfully took the class last winter. A new cohort of 268 students from nearly 60 schools started the class last week. Monroe President Marc Jerome, former NY State Assemblymember Michael Blake, and Monroe VP for Government Relations Joy Tolliver co-teach the class on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Students successfully completing it will earn three college credits at no cost that can be transferred to the college of their choice.

Early voting will take place in King Hall’s Mintz Auditorium, which is located at 2501 Jerome Avenue. Voters must wear a mask while inside the building.
